Every facet sits where this piece of rough demands it — the design follows inclusions, colour distribution and shape, not the other way round.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout hauyne\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHauyne belongs to the sodalite group and carries the name of the French mineralogist René Just Haüy. In cuttable quality it comes almost exclusively from the volcanic region of the Eifel, where it occurs as tiny crystals in the ejecta around Lake Laach. With a Mohs hardness of about 5.5 to 6 it is soft and readily cleavable.
