Symmetry and polish forgive no carelessness here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout hauyne\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHauyne belongs to the sodalite group and carries the name of the French mineralogist René Just Haüy. In cuttable quality it comes almost exclusively from the volcanic region of the Eifel, where it occurs as tiny crystals in the ejecta around Lake Laach. With a Mohs hardness of about 5.5 to 6 it is soft and readily cleavable.
