It is worked in a fancy cut and is untreated — colour and clarity are as they were laid down in the rough material. Like every stone from our workshop it is a unique piece, available only once.

Here the fancy cut follows the shape the rough piece dictated: an elongated outline with cut corners and broad step facets. Above ten carats every decision counts double — what is once gone does not come back.

About tourmaline

Hardly any mineral covers as many colours as tourmaline. This stone shows a strong pink to red with a darker zone — colour zoning belongs to the character of tourmaline and is not a flaw. We have gathered more on the varieties in our guide: Tourmaline guide: lagoon, rubellite and more at a glance.

Tourmaline is strongly pleochroic and appears distinctly darker along the length of the crystal. How the stone is oriented decides its colour — and that decision is made before the first cut. With a Mohs hardness of 7 to 7.5 and no appreciable cleavage, tourmaline is robust enough for jewellery worn every day.

Specifications

Stone type: tourmaline

Weight: 10.78 ct

Origin: Brazil

Cut shape: fancy

Treatment: none, untreated

Cutting: our own workshop

Location: Austria

Availability: unique piece, one only

Further single pieces can be found under Tourmaline, rare species beyond it under More gemstones.
