Services
Everything made in our workshop starts with the rough: selecting, orienting, cutting, polishing. We also offer this craft for stones that don't come from our own stock.
Have rough stones cut
You own rough material and don't know what's inside it? Write to us and tell us what it is about. We will tell you which cut suits the material, roughly what final weight to expect, and whether the work is worth doing at all. Sometimes the honest answer is: probably not — you will hear that from us too.
Recutting and repair
Chipped edges, scratches on the table, or a cut that fails to carry the light: much of this can be saved. A recut costs a little weight, but the stone gains life. Whether it is worth it in your case can usually be judged from good photographs.
Questions about a stone
You inherited, were given or bought a stone and would like to know more about it — species, origin, treatment, cut quality? Write to us. We are glad to answer questions like these, because they interest us as well. Our assessment does not replace a formal laboratory report; for that we will point you to a lab.
Gemmological reports
We source our rough from gemmologically experienced suppliers or through personal contacts on site. So we know where a stone comes from long before it reaches our cutting lap.
If you would like it in black and white, we will commission a gemmological report for any stone from our workshop. You choose it directly in the cart, next to the stone:
- Leading international institute — report from one of the world's leading gemmological laboratories, including origin determination where possible. The price depends on the value of the stone.
- Laboratory in Germany/Austria — identification report, optionally with origin determination where possible. The price depends on weight and species.
The stone goes to the laboratory before shipping and then reaches you together with the report. This extends delivery time by a few weeks; we will let you know the expected date after your order. If you would like a specific laboratory or a different kind of report, write to us.
How to reach us
The contact form is the easiest way. Briefly describe what it is about — species, approximate size, what you have in mind. We will come back to you directly about photographs; the more we see, the more concrete our answer can be.
